I’m going to start by saying that I don’t usually purchase beauty products from the grocery store. After getting Birchbox and Ipsy for years, I found some quality products that I really like and don’t mind spending the money on. I still have drawers full of samples from these boxes I am trying to use up. Ha!
Aveeno® Absolutely Ageless™ Daily Moisturizer and Restorative Night Cream: I do like Aveeno hand lotion so I was excited to try their moisturizer. I really liked it. It was thick enough to feel like it quenched my dry skin but light enough that my face wasn’t greasy. It had a very light scent. The day moisturizer did not smell like sunscreen, which something I have found that a lot of products with SPF do. I don’t typically use a night cream, but I did use this after wiping my face with a wipe. I think I may need to add a night cream to my routine because my skin felt so good in the morning. I really, really liked this product!
Neutrogena® Deep Clean® Purifying 100% Hydrogel Mask: Masks are always fun and tend to help melt a stressful day away. This one did not disappoint. The cool feeling when I first put it on felt amazing. My skin was refreshed and bright after using. I don’t incorporate masks on a regular basis so this was a nice treat.
L’Oréal® Paris Voluminous Mascara Primer: I wanted to like this. When I first applied, it definitely added volume and fullness to my mascara. Unfortunately, something in the primer dried my eyes out and by the end of the day, my eyes were red and irritated. I thought it was a fluke so I tried again a second day—same results. I waited a couple of days and tried again—same irritation. This is not something I will be using.
Love Beauty and Planet® Lavender Shampoo and Conditioner Tandem Sachets: I typically use expensive salon shampoo, although I have been weaning myself off of it and using natural shampoos and conditioners. (I recently switched to Lush brand and tried out the solid shampoo. I LOVE it!) I carefully read the ingredients of the Love brand and decided to give it a try. I actually really liked it. The lavender smells wonderful and left my hair soft and manageable. It was nice shampoo for being of the drugstore variety. In a pinch, I’d purchase it.
TRESemmé® Compressed Micro Mist Hair Spray: So…if you are looking for a super light hold, lightweight hairspray, then this is it. If you curled your hair and just wanted to lock in a little curl or volume. This works. If you want to actually hold hair in place and keep fly aways down, then this is not the hairspray for you. It did nothing to hold my hair. Like, it was pointless to even use. I do have thick, coarse hair, so maybe it would be better for someone with thinner or finer hair. It doesn’t leave hair stiff, which is nice. It’s not for me though.
Garnier® Fructis® Nourishing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask: I am always cautious when using Garnier products. I used them in my college years bc they were cheap and did the job. As someone in their mid-late 30s, their products are something I stay away from. I’ve also read so many things about how yucky and bad Garnier is for the hair. But I tried the mask for the sake of writing this review. I wash my hair every three days otherwise it’s a dry, tangled, falling out mess. At first my hair felt so good after using the mask, but I had to wash it the second day because it felt heavy and greasy. This is another product that just isn’t for me.
And that’s it. Drugstore beauty products are hit and miss. Kroger definitely has a few gems in their aisle that are definitely worth trying out.
